Advantages of Wood:

  • Wood is environment-friendly and a good insulator.

  • The physical appearance and wide range of wood make it one of the ideal materials for kitchen furniture and thus, it will never go out of fashion.
  • Woods like plywood are resistant to boiling water, shrinkage, cracking, splitting, twisting.

Disadvantages of Wood:

  • Woods have low moisture property but, if its surfaces are finished properly it can survive longer.
  • Woods are susceptible to termite infestation. At, wood is coated with termite resistant material or laminate over ply board that keeps moisture and pest at the bay.


Polyvinyl chloride, commonly known as PVC is a form of plastic. Its flexible in nature makes it perfect for kitchen design, Construction, industrial and technical. It is durable long lasting and cost-effective.

Advantages of PVC:

  • It is easy to install.
  • PVC is fire retardant. It does not let the fire spread.
  • It is water resistant and requires low maintenance.
  • PVC is available in various colours.

Disadvantages of PVC:

  • Like wood, PVC does not have excellent strength. So, it cannot hold additional weight.
